Sewage pump station switches

A typical sewage pump station has four float switches controlling two pumps working as duty/assist. We thought it might be helpful for you to see how these floats are configured, in case you weren’t familiar with these. The diagram below shows how they’re usually fitted.

Of course, this is only a standard layout. Some pump stations may have less than four floats, and some may still have four but be configured differently. Also, the heights may vary according to your specific installation as there are other factors to consider, such as the size of the tank, and predicted or actual flows.

If you have concerns about the way your pump station is running please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss it in more detail.
