NASA 3-D printed rocket fuel pump
NASA has recently developed a rocket fuel pump made using ‘selective laser melting’, a form of 3-d printing. This pump is capable of pumping over 75 litres of liquid hydrogen per second, at a temperature of -240 degrees Celsius. That’s pretty good performance for a pump. With 3-d printing becoming a more viable option for manufacturing, 3-d printed pumps could be closer than we think. No more long lead times from pump manufacturers - each individual pump could be made as s
