NASA 3-D printed rocket fuel pump

NASA has recently developed a rocket fuel pump made using ‘selective laser melting’, a form of 3-d printing. This pump is capable of pumping over 75 litres of liquid hydrogen per second, at a temperature of -240 degrees Celsius. That’s pretty good performance for a pump.

With 3-d printing becoming a more viable option for manufacturing, 3-d printed pumps could be closer than we think. No more long lead times from pump manufacturers - each individual pump could be made as soon as the order’s received, then tested and sent out the same day! We’re very excited about this possibility as it fits really well with our vision, to be the fastest and most efficient provider of fluid transfer solutions. Stay tuned…
